That is why it is now taking Countrywide 30 to 40 days to close a loan. Also because Countrywide now has a lot of untrained, inefficient, and disorganized underwriters and processors. (Countrywide may now also be too cheap to hire an adequate staff)

That is also why payoffs and other items are now coming out wrong.

Also Countrywide requires just about all of its loan originations to use LANDSAFE appraisal, a company owned by Countrywide itself. Their appraisals are extremely conservative, and 9 out of 10 of mine and other A/E’s came in OVER $10K less than comps. Even if the home was in good condition. This forces the A/E to restructure the loan a higher rate, less cashout, fewer bills paid, or a some combination of the factors. Their appraisals set the road for disguised predatory lending, and bait and switch.

Wake up Joe D! Have you ever studied the life cycle of an organization? Check it out. It comes in four stages: Introduction, growth, maturity, and decline. Right now, Countrywide is slowing down in the growth stage about to hit maturity. The only thing holding right now is the brand name its built from its past. And if Countrywide continues with its path, it will not be long until it is in its decline stage.

Also Countrywide was recently sued in California from its conduct as an employer, and apparently it never learned from the lawsuit. Another lawsuit will happen.

Well, my home was foreclosed today due to all the problems Countrywide put me through. They denied a short sale offer, and instead accepted less than the short sale offer on the courthouse steps today. And now they will come after me for the balance, forcing me to file bankruptcy. I made over 50 phone calls, sent over 20 faxes--I have done everything I could to avoid this. They would not return phone calls, would not reply to letters or faxes, lost the paperwork, transferred the file over 4 times (and each time it was transferred to a bigger loser than the loser who had it before). I have a 25-year sterling credit history, now gone because of Countrywide. I hope each of them has 1/10th of the sorrow rained upon them that they have caused me this year.

I'm not a Countrywide customer, but the last person to have my cell number was. She must have owed them money, because they call me constantly.

On their first call, I nicely explained to the person that I was not who she was looking for, did not know the person, had no affiliations with her or thier company. I asked them politely to update their records and to not contact me again.

On each subsequent call that I answered, I would again explain the circumstances and ask them to update their records; but each time I was less polite than the last.

At one point, I simply turned the phone off and when I turned it on a week later I had over 30 messages.

So, I deviced to call them. After 30 minutes on hold, I spoke to a service representative and went through my story yet again. I explained the number now belonged to an internal testing account for Sprint, and was on the line for another 20 minutes while they attempted to locate the customer record to remove the number. The rep couldn't find the customer in their computer.

So, what fricken system are the using when they can find the customer record to make harrassing calls to me? They're had no problem finding the customer record to make more than 50 calls to my phone. Why is it they can't find the customer record when I want them to quit hassling me.

I just finished making my second call and received the same line of bs. This time the supervisor I spoke to tried to turn the tables and make me the bad guy because I'm all out of nice... they can harrass me by calling me constantly, not update their records in spite of 8 requests, and when I finally get fed up and use profanity, I'm the bad guy.

Well...

Hey friend, I would do that but I'm not scheduled for chemo.With my kind of cancer, they treated it with radiation. Then,during rehabilitation from the CABG ( triple by-pass just before Christmas, 2004 and after the stroke in October, 2004) I started having spikes in my blood pressure accompanied by severe GI bleeding. All while I was working with severely disabled children at the local middle school full time.
My work schedule was cut, my rehabilitation set back, and a surgical procedure called a Formalin application was done while I was sedated--to stop the bleeding and other radiation injury side effects.
My plans to return to full time work were put into full time disability instead, where unfortunately I am now.
I have had two surgical procedures done since the one last April or May, but the damage is not being corrected. It seems that most people who have this kind of a reaction to pelvic radiation treatments suffer anywhere from very mild to very severe complications from it. People with my history, ( hypertension and anemia) fair worse than others usually.
I have an option to have 40 - 60 sessions of HBOT ( Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy) with a 40% chance of positive results. Those sessions are once a day for two hours in a chamber where they decompress you while your on 100% oxygen. It screws up your sight and hearing but it offers you a chance to live a bit longer as eventually, without treatment that works, you will bleed out quickly when something finally gets bad enough that nothing helps. Most of the documentation on this gives the average person two years to live.
It would have been great to have enjoyed this time in the home we purchased 21 years ago and raised our family, etc, but your correct. We signed the papers. The agreement was not being maintained, and there is an instrument in play that allows the lender the opportunity to force the issue.
Just that there is a way to do it, and it was spelled out in the accelleration /default notice which went totally ignored by the people who sent it to us.
Motive is theirs to know, but I had the ability to keep up with over two-thirds of that agreement for three years which they stated would be looked into IF I followed certain criteria, which I did.
I wasn't asking for a gift, just a temporary solution.
Those are the facts and you need not do anything with them but learn from them or discard them as words from a whiner. I'm simply writing down what happened to us, and that in my opinion, I should have received something in response to my request other than the silent treatment. It's called negotiation in good faith last I checked.

Their attorney told me to contact Countrywide. Countrywide's customer service department and workout department received timely correspondence, the FAX's they requested,and the certified mail they requested. Just that they never responded to the FAX or the certified mail. They didn't respond to the organization that was trying to get the home refinanced either with a payoff figure. All the documents were in play that they needed but it just never happened according to the individual who was working every day with me to try and save our home from being foreclosed.All well before I was contacted initially by the attorneys office.
I did have legal services of Eastern Missouri and the Missouri Division of Finance's assistance but nothing stopped the train because the engineer doesn't take orders from anyone and apparently doesn't need too.
Either way, my friend,you don't know what your talking about. Foreclosing on a home for much less than it's appraised value is profitable, last time I checked. Maybe I'm not using your math?
Being lied to isn't something that is strange to me anymore. Wait until you get cancer and you'll learn a whole new definition to the term. deutche bank owns the loan. countrywide just services it. when you recieved your notice of acceleration your case sent to a local attorney. you should have communicated with the attorney not CHL. sorry to hear about your health but a company provided a service to you by extending you credit in order to buy the house. you did not live up to your end of the agreement. the last thing a lender want is to own a house. they lose a ton of money because they have to sell the house under value, usually the loan amount. they will do everything possible to help you but at a certain they have to either cut bait or fish. a lender makes their money from interest payments and servicing of the loan. they do not wish to be in the real estate business. sorry

Nothing but deception and lies. I did all I could do after getting my letter of acceleration yet their customer service / work out department never responded. Fax, green carded certified mail. All just a waste of time.
After reading the stories here, I concluded it best just to let them do what they do best, and get an apartment. I've had to deal with cancer and cardiovascular disease plus a chapter 7 so honestly, this was nothing. Just glad I found a great place close to the home we owned for 21 years, and have terrific friends.
This organization has over 180 BILLION in assets, owns Washington DC, yet has all the right political players in place to appear to be friendly to "at risk" mortgage holders.
I have the advantage of doing my chapter 7 before they did what they do best. What money I receive is protected anyway as it all comes from disability or pensions. My credit may be tanked, but they sold my place for what I allegedly owed them to one of their subsidiaries, a bank called Deutche or Douche.. whatever. They haven't responded to my voluntary eviction but that's there call. I informed the sheriff and their attorney.
Just a word to the wise... get your loans from places that don't sell them if such animal exists anymore. Also, get insurance against catastrophic diseases so you don't loose your home when your at your weakest moment in your life. No one cares, especially the people who work at this place!

Countrywide Home Loans Corp. uses a certain business practice that allows the customer and the loan officer to commit loan fraud. The scheme is approved by Regional Manager John Reed and branch manager Jim Gabel.

Here is how it works:

The customer applies for a loan and wishes to put 20% down. The Countrwide loan officer quotes a rate that is higher than several quotes the customer has recieved. The Countrywide loan officer than explains the scheme as an acceptable yet illegal business practice. Here is how it works:

The loan officer advises the customer to take out a home equity line of credit for the downpayment amount. The loan officer then tells the customer that he will pay all the closing fees on the line of credit as well as the interest that will accrue for 1 week. If the customer agrees to those terms than the Countrywide loan officer offers a rate on the first mortgage at 1/8th better than all the quotes the customer has obtained. The Countrywide loan officer then advises the customer to pay the home equity loan off immediately after closing. The customer loves it because of the end result which is a lower 1st mortgage rate and the Countrywide loan officer loves it because he is paid up to 8% on the home equity loan to subsidize the lost money for the first mortgage. But the problem is that the home office of Countrywide is expecting the 2nd mortgage to be on their books for a certain period of time. They are such a large company that they haven't caught it. The customer doesn't think they are doing anything wrong but in reality they are playing a part in a scheme to de-fraud the Countrywide investors. You see Countrywide is securitizing these 2nd mortgages so the investors that are buying them are only paying a premium based on the loan having a decent shelf life. In reality the loan is only made for a week to get a huge profit which enables the customer to get the great rate on the first loan. This business practice is blatent fraud and if caught both the loan officer and the unsuspecting customer could be prosecuted. Be careful! Don't let the HELOC SCHEME get you in trouble.

When I first became a Countrywide customer, I set up the automatic draft for my payments. The first two months, they took the payment out TWICE, and refused to refund the extra payment to me. They said they would apply it to next month's payment. I explained that I still had other bills to pay for that month, and could not afford to have two house payments withdrawn in one month! They still refused to correct the situation, and I was forced to transfer money from savings to checking to cover the duplicate payments. Then, it happened a SECOND time! I finally turned off the automatic draft because I could see that they were not able to handle such a simple transaction, and were not interested in helping a customer get back their money when an error had occurred. I feel sorry for anyone who has to deal with Countrywide for any issues on their loan. You WILL NOT get any kind of decent customer service.

I am here to confirm that Countrywide sucks! I lost my job in March 2005, and immediately contacted them to see what my options were. I explained that I could not make the $1700 a month payments, but could manage $1200. They refused to lower my payments by extending the life of my loan. They refused to refinance me so my payments might be lower (informing me that I no longer qualified for the mortgage amount I still owed on the house). I immediately put the house on the market, and began making the house payments using my retirement funds I had withdrawn. When those became depleted, I contacted their WorkOut Department (what a joke), and was told to submit a pile of paperwork to support my case (tax returns, earnings statements, bank statements, etc.). I did all this and then began the barrage of collection calls-DAILY. I would call them, and tell them that they had all my paperwork, and that I was waiting on them to work with me. They stated they never received the paperwork, and told me to fax it. I did, and received a confirmation receipt. Again, they contacted me and said they never received my fax. I sent it certified mail, and it was signed for. AGAIN, they said they never received it. Every time I called (probably over 30 times in 6 months), I got a different person with different answers. There were no notes in my file made regarding past conversations. Every time I called, I had to tell the story from the beginning. Finally, after 10 months on the market, I received an offer on my house (albeit a short sale offer), and my real estate agent sent all the necessary paperwork to the WorkOut Department to process a short sale (which is where they agree to accept less than is owed to avoid foreclosure proceedings which are costly and timeconsuming to the company). Again, no one contacted either of us to tell us how to proceed. Our numerous calls were ignored. I finally got the name of the person who was supposed to be handling my file, and his number. Three times I called, he answered, and promptly hung up on me. I finally called and complained, and was given the name of another person. She told me she would delay my foreclosure for 30 days, and asked that I send all the paperwork into her. I explained that it was already there, and had been for two weeks. She said it was not there--AGAIN it was lost--and we had to start over again. My agent re-sent the paperwork, and the lady called back and said that my file was being assigned to the first guy that had hung up on me 3 times! I explained to her that this was the original guy who had my original paperwork, and she said he did not have it. So, once he received the re-sent paperwork, he got an appraisal of the property done and said he would get back in touch. A week went by, and we did not hear from him. We started calling daily, with no return phone calls. I finally called and complained, and got a manager who said the guy handling my case would be out of the office for two weeks on personal business. I explained to her that his voice mail did not indicate he was not in the office, and she basically indicated that she was not concerned over his lack of a voice mail message indicating his absence. I asked her to please assign my case to someone who would work as I am a single mother trying to avoid foreclosure on my otherwise sterling credit report. She assigned my case to another girl, who promptly started the same process over. She demanded paperwork from my agent, which was promptly faxed (with a confirmation received). When we did not hear back from her, we left messages, asking her to contact us if she needed anything. We still did not hear back from her, and I finally called the manager--AGAIN--and explained the lack of communication. She said she would talk to the girl, and she did. The girl promptly called me, and chewed me up one side and down the other. She said, "Honey, yours is not the only case file on my desk and if you have a problem with that, you can talk to my manager." I tried to smooth things over (realizing that this girl has the power to make or break my credit history in her hands). She insisted that she never received what she needed from my agent. I told her we had fax confirmation. She said she did not care--she did not have it. I asked her why she did not call either of us to explain that she did not have the paperwork. She said she did not have time to call everyone and tell them what she did not have--she was too busy processing paperwork from people who sent their items in properly. I explained that we had sent everything she asked for, and she said she didn't have it. I asked her how we are supposed to know that if she didn't tell us. I told her we would re-send, and asked her to please contact us to let us know she got it. She said she did not have time to do that.

So this is where it is today. In the hands of a woman who doesn't care, and is one of the most hateful people I've ever dealt with. And I am powerless over this. I still don't know if the offer will be accepted. I don't know where my sons and I will go if I'm foreclosed and unable to obtain another loan. I won't even be able to rent if my credit is destroyed.

NEVER, EVER use Countrywide as your lender. And if you find your loan is sold to Countrywide, REFINANCE to another lender.

They are the most horrible experience in my entire 45 years of business relationships.

I purchased my home in 1998 for 68,000 after three years, without missing any payments nor being late,We had a home fire in December of 1999 and the house was completely redone, CW stated I was one month behind on my payment for the month of March,this was stated in June 2002, after providing CW with proof of payment, they then stated "oh, it was the month of Dec year 1999. Due to the fire I did not have proof of purchase as I was making payment with money orders. So, being that I could not prove this, I made the payment. The next year around the same time, I received notification that I was 3 months behind on my payments. This completely shocked me as I was receiving monthly statements with the correct balance and amount owed, and still had not missed a payment. I provided proof of payment and was informed again it was for other months and not the months I was informed previously. I provided copies of those months as well. I was then told the month of December 1999 was not made. I informed this rep who was rude and totally ignorant, that this was the same mistake they stated I made last year and due to the fire I did not have prrof, but I do have proof of the payment I made again for Dec 1999 last year. SHe stated she was not showing that payment, stated that payment was actually applied to another paymeent that was missed and I was still behind one month. I stated I have faxed every payment I have made for the past 2 years and each month is accounted for, even the payment CW stated they did not rreceive, so as far as I was concerned I was actually one month ahead. The rep informed me she would investigate this and contact me back. Never heard from anyone with CW for three months at which time I recieved a letter stateing my homes was in danger of going into foreclosure I was now 4 months behind,of course by this time I had started making my payments via western union. I called and was informed I needed to speak with a specialist, who turned out to be the demon from hell. She spoke to me as if I had stole something, rudely informed me what I owed and what she was going to do, did not let me speak, stated it was nothing they could do at this point, and the only way I could avoid foreclosure was to pay the $4,000 something dollars which included the missed payments and laywers fees. Of course , she heard me when I stated bullshitt, explaiend to her first of all I had provided proof, and someone was suppose to contact me back two months ago. Asked her if after all the conversations I have had with the company, anything had ever been documented and informed her I was not about to pay for payments I had already made. I informed her that she needed to look at my supposedly file documentation, she informed me that she did not have to take this and hung up. The next time I received a letter from MILLSAP & SINGER P.C. informed me of the foreclosure date. I contact the attrney and explained the situation to him, he informed me that all I had to do was contact CW and inform them and eveyrthing should be cleared. Well that was 09/15/05 today I am currently looking for a home. I was unable to speak with anyone at countrywide for over a week, when I finally did get someone on the phone, I was told it was too late, my house was already in foreclosure scheduled for 10/05. I was even too late for a cash out. I left message Millsap & Singer and finally got word back from them on 10/05 and was infromed the foreclsure process was ceased, to contact CW. When I contacted CW and got a response back 10/07 I was informed my house was sold on 10/05. I can't believe this bullshit has actually happened, I am scheduled to appear at a failure to vacate hearing this month.HELL YEAH COUNTRYWIDE SUCKS!!!!!!!!!

I have documents showing a couple who was going to sell their property and their attorney who was representing them arranging for other entities to be paid, and did not owe them. ($80,000.00)

I am requesting an appeal in the Federal Courts and my Statue of Limitation is running out.

I have tried to tell my story in the State of California with no success.

I finally got Countrywide to report correctly to the credit bureaus. I presented them with legal ramifications and fines, and they faxed me a correction the next day. I had certified copies of prior notifications they signed for. It is too bad that Countrywide had to be given a lawsuit premise to correct my credit report in order to get it done right. It only took them 16 months to start reporting correctly to the credit bureaus.

My mortgage was discharged in bankruptcy over a year ago. My ex wife still lives in the house, and the payments are up to date. By law, my credit report must show a zero balance on the mortgage and a bankruptcy notation. Countrywide was given copies of my bankruptcy three times during the last year via certified mail, yet they said they never have gotten it. I have been denied a home loan because of a mortgage balance still showing from Countrywide. Countrywide is breaking the law with the FCRA (Fair Credit and Reporting Act).

I don't know about all the name calling, etc. but one thing is certain. Something bad has happened to Countrywide in Atlanta and there won't be an end until it's destroyed. Someone hired people to run this part of the company that either have no interest in the company or just simply aren't qualified to run a company. There is no profit being made and everyone is unhappy -- customers and employees. Seems like a recipe for disaster. Sit back and watch it fall. Maybe a year, maybe not that long. They'll be gone, someone new will be along or they can close down Atlanta altogether. I don't think Atlanta would be missed by the rest of Countrywide.

I'm going to post this in every state listed here. YOU MUST TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN ACTIONS AND DECISIONS!! I have recently left the lending industry. I can site many reasons for this, however the top reason has to be dealing with borrowers and potential borrowers who had no concept of financial responsibility. Just because you have a 700 credit score does not mean you demonstrate good use of credit or that you are guaranteed the rate or terms you want. In fact, many people who have the best credit scores carry the most debt. What you people do not understand is that the lending institutions want you to carry debt, so if you carry alot of debt and pay it on time your score will be higher than someone who pays their bills OFF every month and only carries a mortgage and a car loan/lease. If you fall on hard times, pay your damn mortgage and let the friggin' Visa's go delinquent. Visa isn't going to take your house, your mortgage company is. People jump to quickly to file BK. Guess what, ole' GW has made that next to impossible for the average American. You're better off making arrangements with your credit card companies and paying your mortgage off as quickly as possible. Use good judgement, not the "I want it now!" mentality. Buy a Trailblazer instead of the RangeRover or the Hummer or the Lincol or Caddy or whatever. How many of you people that post on here have kids? ATTENTION ANYONE ON COUNTRYWIDE'S "PAY PLAN 24"!!!
I SIGNED UP FOR "PAY PLAN 24" TO SAVE INTEREST ON MY HOME LOAN. FOR $4 PER MONTH ($2 PER TRANSACTION) COUNTRYWIDE TAKES 1/2 OR YOUR MORTGAGE PAYMENT TWICE A MONTH. MINE IS SETUP TO TAKE 1/2 ON THE 6TH AND THE 21ST. I DIDN'T MIND THE $4 MONTHLY TRANSACTION FEE BECAUSE I WOULD SAVE SO MUCH IN INTEREST. WELL, WHEN I DID MY TAXES THIS YEAR IT DAWNED ON ME THAT THE AMOUNT OF INTEREST I PAID HAD NOT GONE DOWN FOR THE 2 YEARS I HAVE BEEN USING "PAY PLAN 24." I CALLED COUNTRYWIDE AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY DON'T POST THE 1/2 PAYMENTS WHEN THEY RECIEVED IT, THEY WAIT AND POST IT ON THE 1ST WHEN MY PAYMENT IS DUE. I WAS OUTRAGED! I ASKED THE GIRL WHO WAS GETTING THE INTEREST ON THE $2200 THEY ARE HOLDING AND NOT POSTING TO MY ACCOUNT. SHE TOLD ME "NO ONE." THAT IS A LOAD OF BS. NOW I HAVE PULLED A 2 YEAR HISTORY AND COUNTRYWIDE IS NOT EVEN POSTING THE MORTGAGE PAYMENT ON THE 1ST!!! THEY ARE WAITING UNTIL THE 6TH, 7TH, AND EVEN THE 13TH TO POST THE PAYMENT. SO COUNTRYWIDE IS MAKING INTEREST ON THE $1100 DOLLARS THEY GET ON THE 6TH, AND INTEREST ON THE $1100 THEY GET ON THE 21ST---THEY HOLD THIS MONEY UP TO THE 13TH OF THE FOLLOWING MONTH!! WHILE THEY ARE HOLDING MY MONEY AND EARNING INTEREST ON MY MONEY---THEY CONTINUE TO CHARGE ME MORTGAGE INTEREST ON THE FULL BALANCE--SINCE THEY DON'T POST IT UNTIL THE 13TH OF THE FOLLOWING MONTH!!! I AM PAYING MORE INTEREST THAN IF I SENT THE PAYMENT IN MYSELF AND THEY POSTED IT ON THE 1ST!!! THIS IS SO CROOKED. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE ATTORNEY GENERAL OF MISSOURI. I GOT A CALL FROM RON CAMERON WITH THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT OF COUNTRYWIDE. HIS NUMBER IS 1-800-669-2443 X2219. HE SAID HE DIDN'T KNOW IF COUNTRYWIDE WAS MAKING INTEREST ON MY $2200 THAT THEY HOLD FOR A MONTH,EITHER. I TOLD HIM IF COUNTRYWIDE WAS HOLDING THAT MUCH MONEY IN A NON-INTEREST BEARING ACCOUNT THEY ARE A VERY POORLY RUN COMPANY. HE SAID "I DIDN'T SAY WE WEREN'T EARNING INTEREST, I JUST DON'T KNOW." I TOLD HIM THAT HE HAD NOT DONE HIS HOMEWORK THEN, BECAUSE HE SHOULD HAVE HAD THAT INFO BEFORE HE EVER CALLED ME. I AM FURIOUS. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ON THIS. THERE MUST BE TONS OF PEOPLE THAT ARE ON THIS PLAN AND DON'T KNOW THEY ARE BEING RIPPED OFF AS I AM.

Thank you so much for this website. Our realtor recommended Countrywide so strongly that we went to them for our mortgage. If you think Countrywide is bad, try going to a realtor who works hand-in-hand with Countrywide. Countrywide gave us an interest rate upon which we based our offer. As soon as the offer was accepted, Countrywide upped the interest rate so much that we knew we could no longer afford the house, but we had signed an offer to purchase that allowed that rate of interest (on the advice of Countrywide, who said it didn't really mean we would ever have to pay that higher rate, it was just something to put on the offer). So, we went to a bank, and they offered us a much lower rate. The bank called the realtor to start the loan process. The realtor turned around and called Countrywide, who then called us, to offer us a much, much better rate. Okay. But then, Countrywide wouldn't move. Not even an application to start the loan process. Each time I called they tap-danced about computers and "in the system," etc. We had no application, no written estimate, nothing. Twelve days before closing I called our local bank in a panic. They were able to do the loan at that interest rate and cut Countrywide out completely. They said if we had waited a couple more days it would have been too late. We believe that Countrywide was holding out until we had no other options before they would give us a loan, and the terms of it would have been at their pleasure.
THEN, we found out our realtor had not disclosed an encroachment. This alone could have been a deal-breaker, but we wanted the property so we worked out a deal with the man who owned the property on whom we were encroaching. We also got an attorney, and asked him to take over the closing, which we had been planning to do at the realtor's office. WELLLLLL---Here it gets fun. Countrywide and our realtor had worked into the purchase all sorts of "creative financing," so that we, the buyers, would be credited with approximately $3,500 at the closing, which would have been at the realtor's office, where we wouldn't have known what the hell he was doing with the money. But our lawyer and our bank did exactly that; they credited us with the $3,500. In fact, they ran out of places to credit us, so the seller ended up writing us a personal check for the balance. Our realtor was shocked when he found this out at closing. We had to stay an hour while everyone in his office and the lawyer's office looked for money, calculators clicking, pages flying. The realtor went outside and talked on his cell phone. We overhead him shout, "Well then we're screwed!" I kid you not! At another point in this comedy our lawyer asked him, "Well, where's the earnest money? I don't have it. Do you have it?" And the realtor said, distractedly, "Well yes, I have it, but…." and went back to playing with his calculator.
The way it finally turned out for us was beautiful. The seller actually ended up paying for part of our down payment, but it didn't cost him anything because Countrywide had him raise the asking price in order to credit us, in order to be able to get their thousands at closing. We paid NO FEES whatsoever, and walked away with a small check to the good. The seller paid a very low commission to the realtor (because the realtor quoted him a small commission, apparently because he, the realtor, was going to get a cut of the "creative financing" done by Countrywide at closing.) Watching this comedy of errors was truly enjoyable; however, it followed a month of anxiety and fear. I don't recommend Countrywide to anyone. And if your realtor recommends them, please be warned.

My loan was just sold to Countrywide Home Loans a month and a half ago. I got a good-bye letter from the old mortgage company but NEVER heard anything from countrywide. I was 2 months ahead on mortgage payments but now, I'm only a week away from the next due date because I haven't received any statements from Countrywide. About 3 weeks before the next one was due, I started calling Countrywide to ask why I haven't received a statement from them as I did with my previous mortgage company. They kept telling me that they would transfer my loan info. over to the statements dept. and a statement would be generated within 24 hours and one would be mailed out to me. Here I am, still waiting and NO statements. I called back about a week and a half before my next house payment was due and I spoke with another supervisor. Could you believe that she told me that monthly statements are a COURTESY AND NOT A REQUIREMENT?! I couldn't believe my ears! I know every bill I ever got before and in the future says "Please return this portion with your payment and keep the above for your copy". They absolutely REFUSE to send me statements. As a consumer, I feel that I have the right to know where EVERY penny of my money is going. When you go to the grocery store, they give you a receipt, Walmart gives you a receipt and so does every free place in the world! I went to ripoffreport.com and read all of the horror stories there and decided to come here and see what else there was to read. After reading ALL of the HORROR stories, I know I cannot be the only person this is happening too. If anyone could give me some advice on what else to do, please let me know as it would be greatly appreciated. I can't refinance yet as I have checked into that. I also have been searching for the CEO's address of Countrywide but cannot find it. I know his name is Angelo Mozilo. That's about all the info I could find on him, which I think that's odd and that info should be readily available for you if you have an established account with a company, esp. a financial institution. I have filled out forms for the Attorney General of MO as that is where I live, the one for CA, as that is where they have a buttload of offices and one for the TX Attorney General as that is where the payments are supposed to be mailed to. I hope I'm getting this off to the right start. I also have made a copy of my homeowner's ins. as I have read if they have no proof of any, they just start charging. Please let me know if any of this is in the right direction or if I need to go a different route. Thanks for listening!

We've also been pulled into the flood insurance scam. FEMA documents show we're not in a flood zone but CountryWide insists that we are. Furthermore, they will not provide the documentation they are using to base their decision. We're working with FEMA right now for an actual survey, but we're looking to get in on a class action suit. Not for the money, it's a matter of principle. Our escrot has gone up hundreds each month.
